The Cottage

The Crescent Moon is a clean and cozy 3 bedroom cottage that comfortably hosts 6 adults. I like to say that this is a “classic cottage”, cottage. It’s full of knotty pine and has a rustic charm. But don’t worry, I have a keen attention to detail, so all the little comforts and special touches can be found.

FALL/ WINTER HIGHLIGHTS
Drinkable- filtered well water, 90" projector screen in the main bedroom, dishwasher, canoe + paddles, snowshoes, bathrobes, two-person jacuzzi, two fireplaces (gas and wood), fire pit on the dock, lots of outdoor space, sunsets off the water every night, board games, vintage Nintendo game console and more. COVID friendly: safe, tidy, cleaned, sanitized, accommodating.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE
Not dog-friendly aka. no dogs allowed, no parties allowed, must be able to negotiate stairs, ONLY biodegradable products to be used in sinks and shower (provided by host), light cleaning at check out required, no smoking inside, must abide by bathroom rules (we are in the country and on septic)

The cottage has big bright windows along with two beautiful skylights for watching stars or catching some extra sun. The cottage is north facing so there is a sunset every night. Prolong those summer days on the dock and let your worries fade away.

We welcome families and friends who are looking to escape the city and enjoy some quality time together. This cottage is not suitable for parties. I am looking to rent to mature adults who are kind and respectful, tidy, and considerate. A cottage is a lot of work, and so we ask you to treat it gently so it can be enjoyed for many, many more years.

BEDROOMS, BEDS, AND LINENS
Inside you’ll find 2 comfortable, tidy bedrooms and fresh linens plus an additional main bedroom suite with a queen bed, ensuite bathroom with a shower, jacuzzi, wood stove, pull-out queen bed couch. All rooms have their own dresser for storage.

This cottage is well equipped with fresh linens for each available bed (sheets, duvet, duvet cover, pillows, pillowcases). *Due to COVID, if you’re more comfortable bringing your own pillow, we recommend doing so. *

Overall you can expect the basics: dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils, aluminum foil, Tupperware, cooking oil, condiments, salt and pepper, coffee filters, coffee maker, pour-over, microwave, fridge + freezer, filtered and drinkable well water, stove + oven, dishwasher, dishwasher tablets. We also provide you with biodegradable dish soap and kitchen linens (dishtowels, sponges, J cloth). We also have all the necessary cleaning supplies.

LIVING ROOM and SCREENED IN PORCH
In the living room, there is a 32” TV with a DVD player, VHS player, and a vintage Nintendo game console with over 620 classic games, for rainy days or games in the evenings. There is a selection of board games and cards as well. There is a dining table ready for dinner parties, that will comfortably accommodate 6 guests. The screened-in porch offers dining as well as an additional place to lounge while avoiding the bugs but catching the evening breeze.

BBQ
Instructions for the BBQ can be found in our cottage manual. We strongly suggest you read them before usage. We provide you with two propane tanks that should last your entire stay with some to spare, if you run out and require more, we ask that you do this at your own expense.

OUTDOOR FIRES
There is a fire pit down on the dock at the lake. This is the only place where you may have a fire. Please be cautious and put out the fire before going to bed, with water. There is firewood at the carpark. We will inform you if there is an active fire ban - if there is, there are NO fires permitted at all.

WOOD STOVE
There is a wood stove in the primary bedroom that requires you to read a HOW TO guide, as well as review a wikihow. Using a wood stove requires attention to detail and there is a learning curve. The stove is supplemental heat on top of our baseboard heaters. Please let me know if you have questions about how to use it. Using this improperly may result in a fire.

THE LAKE
The lake is fresh and so clean. It’s a sand bottom lake so not to worry if you’re not fond of seaweed (like me). It’s about 6ft off the dock. There is a canoe, stand up paddleboards, and kayak available to use as well. This lake is great for swimming, fishing, boating, paddling, floating. The lake is named Johnston lake, and it's one of the biggest lakes in the area.

CELL PHONE RECEPTION
You should have good cell phone reception via the Telus or Bell network.

INTERNET
We have reliable WIFI internet access available for guests but this is not like city wifi, please use it sparingly. Talk to your friends and family why don’t ya :) If you have a data connection with Telus or Bell, you will also be able to use that.

STAIRS
There are a few sets of stairs both outside and inside the cottage. Negotiating stairs must not be an issue for you.

HEATING
There is baseboard heating in the cottage which keeps everything toasty warm in the fall season.

TOILETS
We are on septic at the cottage. We have strict policies on what can and cannot go down the toilet. Please be mindful of this when booking. Our guidelines are in our cottage manual.

INDOOR FIREPLACE
During the cooler months, there is a propane/ gas fireplace in the cottage living room. There are detailed instructions on how to use both in the cottage manual.
