HOW TO USE

  1. Open the door of fireplace by pulling the handle up
  2. Ensure both the damper (top knob) and air intake (bottom knob) are fully open.
  3. OPEN = top knob pulled all the way out, bottom knob pushed all the way in.
  4. Place two small logs in the fireplace positioned left to right
  5. Add a few pieces of tightly crumpled up paper into the crack between the two logs.
  6. Place 3 or so small pieces of wood (kindling) diagonally over the logs and newspaper.
  7. Use the bbq lighter or matches to light the paper.
  8. Close the door almost all the way, leaving a crack open, allow the fire to catch for about 3-5 mins or so. This process may take you a few tries. Have patience.
  9. Once it seems the kindling has caught on fire and has started to light the logs, creating red embers, you may close the door and lock it by pulling the handle down. (Make sure the door is very snug, adjust handle if needed)
  10. In about 15-20  mins or so, add another log to the fire, so long as the original logs have caught fire.
  11. Once the temperature gauge reads “optimal performance) you can now close the damper by pushing it in almost all the way (about 90% in).
  12. CAUTION: ALWAYS LEAVE THE DAMPER IN THIS POSITION ONCE AT 300+ DEGREES OR CREOSOTE COULD BUILD IN THE CHIMNEY CAUSING A FIRE.
  13. At this point, you can slowly pull out the air intake to remove some air, this will allow the fire to burn more slowly, so you go through less wood. This is your main control of the flames. More air = bigger flames, hotter fire
  14. The chimney stack outside should have clear/white, hazy smoke coming from it. Never dark and smokey.
  15. You’ll want to add a log or two every so often (about every 1.5 to 2 hours) to keep the fire going. Open the door with caution. Use gloves in case anything falls out of the stove.
  16. The fire may be left unattended with the door closed, if it looks to be burning well, and is hot.

IF after all this you still don’t feel comfortable with this stove, probably best not to use it :)
